The WG will convene at 9am prompt on Friday December 6th. Attendees are requested to arrive at least 15 minutes earlier in order to exchange pleasantries, set up computers, etc. Full day meetings will be held on all four day, except for Saturday morning, when the SC34 opening plenary takes place.
1. Formalities
Greetings, roll call, approval of draft agenda, meeting times, and the like.
2. Restatement of ISO 13250
Discussion of requirements and principles behind the restatement of ISO 13250, including the extent to which the new ISO 13250 shall modify and extend the old, what parts the new ISO 13250 shall have, and the timetable for its production.
3. Standard Application Model for ISO 13250 Topic Maps
Discussion of the Editors' draft "The Standard Application Model for ISO 13250 Topic Maps", available shortly at http://www.isotopicmaps.org/sam/sam-model/ (an updated version of N329; a revised version will be posted by November 15 2002). The goal of the discussion is to resolve as many of the outstanding issues as possible, including some major issues relating to scope and the topic naming constraint. Other relevant documents are:
- N323: Guide to the topic map standards
- N327: Note on issues to be decided on scope
- N328: The XML Topic Maps (XTM) Syntax
- N331: Report of WG3 meeting in Montral
- N338: Japan National Body Comments on SC 34 N 327, 328, 329 and 331
Below is an organized list of the SAM issues for discussion in Baltimore. The following issues are small, and we hope to be able to resolve these quickly and with only a little discussion. It may be best to start with these issues.
- container-props
- merge-srcloc-vs-subjid
- prop-notation-interp
- prop-reifier-computed
- prop-reifier-topic
- prop-base-locator
- reifier-merging
- string-bidi
- string-normalization
- subject-identity-establish
- subject-vs-resource
- term-application
- term-subject-def
- term-topic-characteristic-reified
The issues in the list below are medium-sized issues, and it is hoped that these can be dealt with without too much ado, once the small issues are out of the way.
- merge-use-of-schemas
- names-as-subjects
- names-with-types
- op-sorting
- prop-srcloc-interchange
- psi-display-name
- psi-subclassing-loops
- scope-extension
- strings-as-subjects
- locator-normalization
The following issues are big, and discussion of them is likely to require substantial amounts of time. These should wait until the issues above have been resolved.
The issues listed below have low priority, and will only be dealt with if there is time left over for them.
Finally, there are the major issues that we know need to be resolved now, but which will also require a lot of discussion.
4. Reference Model for ISO 13250 Topic Maps
Discussion of the proposed Reference Model for topic maps. A new editors' draft will be published prior to the meeting.
5. Topic Map Query Language (TMQL)
Report from the editors on the current status. Discussion of different approaches and execution models. Timetable for further progress.
6. Topic Map Constraint Language (TMCL)
Report from the editor on the current status. Timetable for further progress. Instructions to editor for revised requirements.
7. Standard Music Description Language (SMDL)
Report from the editors on the current status and discussion of how to proceed with the project.
8. Hypermedia/Time-based Structuring Language (HyTime)
Report from the editors on the current status and discussion of how to proceed with the project.
9. Interchange Standard for Multimedia Interactive Documents (ISMID)
Report from the editors on the current status and discussion of how to proceed with the project.
10. HyperText Markup Language (ISO-HTML)
Report from the editors on the current status and discussion of how to proceed with the project.
The following timetable suggests an order of business based as far as possible on requests received from delegates who cannot be present on all four days. Minor adjustments may be made during the meeting. Expected durations (in parentheses) are only intended to provide a rough indication of the time likely to be spent on each topic.
