International standards community joins fight against breast cancer

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is currently developing a standard for digital mammography X-ray equipment. The equipment has been shown to improve early detection of breast cancer by providing better quality images than conventional X-rays. IEC is expected to publish the standard for testing of technology in late 2006. The IEC news release is only available in English.
