New ISO/IEC guide aims to improve efficiency of international trade

A new ISO/IEC guide (ISO/IEC Guide 68) aims to reduce redundant, costly and time-consuming aspects of "conformity assessment" activities and, in doing so, contribute to the efficiency of the international trading system. The Guide was developed by the ISO Committee on conformity assessment (CASCO), working group WG 11, Mutual recognition agreements, in partnership with the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). Elva Nilsen, the Canadian expert on ISO/CASCO WG 11, is Director, of Intergovernmental Affairs and Trade with the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
