2001-11-22

The Pan-American Standards Commission (COPANT) and the Interamerican Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) are becoming members of one another in order to promote a closer working relationship.

Both organizations were established to promote greater cooperation on standards-related issues among the nations of North, Central and South America. COPANT focuses its efforts primarily on the development of regional standards, while IAAC deals with the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies.
