![]() Top CEO's identify standards as a priority in Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America2007-02-26The North American Competitiveness Council (NACC), which includes North America's top CEOs, issued a report to the ministers of Canada, Mexico and the United States, citing the increased use of international standards as one of its priorities in the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). NACC calls upon the North American governments, in particular, to sign a new Regulatory Cooperation Framework in 2007 and to ensure consistent application of standards and regulatory requirements within each country. In addition, it recommends that regulators drafting or revising rules in any of the three countries should be required to consider international technical standards where they exist. NACC, which was created last year by North American leaders to promote long-term security and prosperity, presented these recommendations at a ministerial meeting in Ottawa on February 23, 2007.
