![]() New program will help organic certifiers achieve accreditation2001-06-08The federal government has announced a new program that will help organizations that certify organic agriculture products to obtain Standards Council of Canada accreditation. The program is based on a National Standard of Canada for organic agriculture that was developed by the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB). Organic certifiers who achieve accreditation by the end of March, 2003, will be able to claim up to 50 percent of their accreditation costs, to a maximum of $25,000. The Standards Council's accreditation program for organic agriculture certifiers is one of a number of programs that help to verify the capabilities and credibility of certification bodies.
