Government encourages use of standardization tools by regulators

2007-04-10

The Government of Canada's Cabinet Directive on Streamlining Regulation which came into effect on April 1, 2007 introduces several key improvements for the development, implementation, evaluation and review of regulations, including the use of standardization tools and approaches offered by Canada's National Standards System (NSS). The Directive recognizes that the NSS provides internationally accepted best practices and test methods, improves market entry and acceptance, and reduces the need for multiple testing or repetitive certification.
