ANSI chairman is new ISO president-elect

Oliver R. (Ollie) Smoot, chairman of the board of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has been chosen as President-elect of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). His one-year appointment as President-elect will become effective in January 2002 and will be followed by a two-year term of office as ISO President. He will succeed Mario Gilbert Cortopassi of Brazil.
