PAC and IAAC plenaries: new members, new agreements

2001-10-25

At their recent annual meetings, two regional accreditation-body organizations welcomed new members and advanced plans for new multilateral recognition agreements.

The Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC) held its eighth annual meeting in Beijing in early September. The organization welcomed accreditation bodies from China and Korea as full members. Mexico's national accreditation body signed PAC's multilateral recognition agreement for quality systems registrars during the meeting, bringing the number of participants to the agreement to eleven. PAC also continued its efforts to develop agreements for environmental management systems registrars and product certification bodies.  For more information, please see PAC's official communiqué from the meeting.

The Interamerican Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) held its sixth annual meeting in Mexico City in early October. The organization announced that it has been incorporated in Mexico. IAAC also approved a plan to establish mutual recognition agreements for quality systems registrars and laboratories.
