![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 1998-07-16 Standards Council accredits quality management systems registrarThe Standards Council of Canada has accredited Orion Registrar Inc., of Arvada, Colorado, to register organizations to the requirements of the ISO 9000 series - the international standards dealing with quality management systems. Registration is a means of demonstrating to clients and other interested parties that a quality management system conforms to ISO 9000 series requirements. The Standards Council's accreditation program for ISO 9000 registrars is intended to enhance national and international confidence in Canadian registrations. To become accredited, a registrar must meet the requirements of Standards Council criteria published in CAN-P 10B, Criteria for Accreditation of Organizations Registering Quality Systems. Requirements relate to such issues as qualified staff, quality system, proper record keeping and freedom from conflicts of interest. Orion's accreditation follows a comprehensive assessment by the Standards Council including the witnessing of registration audits. The Standards Council of Canada is a Crown corporation with the mandate to promote efficient and effective standardization, and is Canada's representative at ISO.
