CSA President to address NSS Conference delegates

OTTAWA – Pat Keindel, President of Standards at the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), joins the impressive list of keynote speakers presenting at the upcoming National Standards System (NSS) Conference. During a luncheon sponsored by CSA, on November 17, 2004, Ms. Keindel will discuss the role of the standardization community in sustainable development with a presentation entitled “Towards a Healthier Planet.”

"Partners such as CSA are an integral part of the National Standards System," commented Peter Clark, Executive Director for the Standards Council. "We are grateful to Pat Keindel and CSA for their participation in this important event as well as their continued support of the NSS."

This 2nd NSS Conference is being organized by the SCC at the Pallisser Hotel in Calgary, Alberta.  Participants of the Conference will be invited to consider new directions for standardization and for the National Standards System as it continues to pursue its mandate of advancing Canada's social and economic well-being, and the health and safety of its citizens.

Pat Keindel's contributions, innovation and leadership have distinguished her within the standards community.  She began her career with the Standards Council of Canada before holding various positions of increasing responsibility at the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), most recently as President, Standards. Ms. Keindel has spearheaded initiatives such as electronic product delivery, online standards development and harmonization projects involving US, Mexican, and other international standards. Her vision has resulted in the development of standards in groundbreaking and challenging areas such as sustainable forest management and organ and tissue transplantation.
