In memory of Joe McMahon

OTTAWA - It is with great sorrow and regret that the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) announces the tragic loss of esteemed colleague, Joseph Terrence McMahon, Senior Program Officer ISO, Standards Branch.  Joe, who passed away suddenly on March 12, 2004, was 38 years old.
 
Joe joined the SCC in 1996. During his career at the Standards Council, he worked in many areas of the organization including as part of the Executive team, with External Relations and most recently in the Standards Branch. For the past few years, Joe served as Secretary of the Canadian National Committee on the International Organization for Standardization (CNC/ISO). He was responsible for coordinating Canada's participation at ISO and in the Pacific Area Standards Congress (PASC). He is remembered for his love of life, his genuine concern and respect for others, his supportive nature, vast knowledge of standardization and the tremendous contribution he made to the SCC and the National Standards System.
 
Friends may pay respects at a funeral to be held Tuesday, March 16th at Resurrection of Our Lord Church (1940 Saunderson Dr.) at 10 a.m. In Memoriam, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
 
Joe was greatly respected at the Standards Council by council members and staff. He will be sadly missed by all his many colleagues and friends.
