Two new members appointed to the Standards Council of Canada

The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), today appointed Mr. Raymond Gagnon and Mr. Pierre-Paul Riopel as members of the Council.

Through the work and dedication of the Council, the SCC continues to promote standards that help ensure better and safer methods and products for Canada," said Minister Bernier. "The diverse public sector experiences of Mr. Gagnon and Mr. Riopel will help the Council as it continues to promote standards and accreditation services for all sectors in Canada."

Raymond Gagnon has been the Director of N.T.R. Management, a management consulting firm, since 2004. Previously, Mr. Gagnon worked with the Business Development Bank of Canada as Senior Director, Consulting Group and held various management positions with L'Oréal Group / Nestlé International.

Pierre-Paul Riopel is the Vice-President, Manufacturing and Technology for the Canadian division of Thomas & Betts Limited. He is responsible for all manufacturing activities for the eleven Canadian plants and manages the product development team. Mr. Riopel previously worked for Microtrol Group and Rockwell International and is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers.
