![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 2008-12-02 Hugh Krentz reappointed as Chairperson of the Standards Council of CanadaThe Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), today announced the reappointment of Mr. Hugh Krentz as Chairperson of the SCC for a one-year term. “I am very pleased to reappoint Mr. Krentz as Chairperson of the SCC,” said Minister Clement. “His contribution will continue to support the SCC’s work and help guide its success in the year ahead.” Mr. Krentz has served on the SCC since 1977 and has been Chairperson since 2001. Throughout his career, Mr. Krentz has served in various capacities at the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC), including as Regional Engineer for Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Vice President and General Manager, and President. While working with the CISC, he also served on the Canadian Steel Construction Council and was later appointed Executive Director of the Steel Structures Education Foundation. Mr. Krentz graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Manitoba and was elected a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 1984 and 1998, respectively. The Standards Council of Canada is a Crown corporation with the mandate to promote efficient and effective standardization in Canada.
