Recommendations of September 2004 Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34/WG1 in Cambridge, UK
1. Disposition of Comments for Ballot Response for Part 2
WG1 requests that the editor of Part 2 generate a Disposition of Comments from national bodies on PDAM1 for Part 2 provided in the Summary of Voting in N537, based on the notes taken in Cambridge, and prepare a final text for the amendment, incorporating accepted changes. WG1 recommends that, after electronic review of the comments and corrected amendment by WG1 members, SC34 accepts the disposition of comments and that the revised text be submitted to the ISO/IEC central secretariat for publication.
2. Disposition of Comments for Ballot Response for Part 3
WG1 requests that the editor of Part 3 generate a Disposition of Comments from national bodies on the CD for Part 3 provided in the Summary of Voting in N538, based on the discussions in Cambridge, and prepare an FCD, incorporating accepted changes. WG1 recommends that, after electronic review of the comments and FCD by WG1 members, SC34 accepts the disposition of comments and that the revised text be submitted to the ISO/IEC central secretariat for publication. WG1 asks that SC34 considers asking JTC1 to make the final text freely available.
3. Disposition of Comments for Ballot Response for Part 4
WG1 requests that the editor of Part 4 generate a Disposition of Comments for the national body comments on the latest CD for Part 4 provided in the Summary of Voting in N539, based on the discussions in Cambridge, and prepare an FCD, incorporating accepted changes. WG1 recommends that, after electronic review of the comments and FCD by WG1 members, SC34 accepts the disposition of comments and that the revised text be submitted to the ISO/IEC central secretariat for publication. WG1 recommends that SC34 should ask JTC1 to make the final text freely available as the document is based on a fast-tracked Japanese standard that is publicly available, which has previously been circulated as Part 2 of ISO/IEC 22250.
4.. Revision of Part 8
The editor of Part 8 is requested to prepare a CD text based on comments received from WG1 and to submit it for national body ballot. The editor is requested to rename the part Document Schema Renaming Language to better reflect the role of the Part.
5.. Revision of Part 7
WG1 requests that Makoto Murata to create a revised CD for Part 7 based on the discussions held in Cambridge that concentrates on the definition of character repertoires, and that a binding mechanism be provided to allow such documents to be referenced as part of a Part 3 assertion test so that examples of the use of Part 3 constructs to apply character repertoires to document instances can be incorporated into an informative annex for Part 7. WG1 requests that the name of Part 7 be revised to Character Repertoire Description Language (CRDL) to more accurately reflect its role.
6.. Review of the Relationships between Parts 3, 5 and 6
WG1, having noted some of the functionality provided in the recently updated proposed specification for XML Path 2.0, asks member bodies to consider whether a constrained subset of this specification could be used with the Datatype Library Language (DTLL) proposed for Jeni Tennison as the basis of Part 5 to provide a simple mechanism for extending Part 3 constraints to manage datatype validation error reporting.
7.. Review of the Role of Part 10
WG1 requests national bodies to identify expertise on XML Pipelines, ANT and/or Cocoon who could advise us on the possibility of adopting an existing language to choreograph the relationships between DSDL-based processing sequences.
8.. Review of all Parts
WG1 requests editors of all parts of ISO/IEC 19757 to review what changes would be required to accept the extensions to naming rules, etc, provided by versions 1.1 of XML and XML Namespaces and to submit PDAMs for review by national bodies that will enable schemas based on these extended specifications to be used in conjunction with DSDL.
