Recommendations of November 2004 Meeting of WG3
1. ISO 13250-2: Topic Maps -- Data Model
WG3 accepts SC34 N0581 as the Editors' Notes from the meeting and instructs the Editors of Part 2 to incorporate the decisions taken at the Washington meeting into a new draft and forward it to the WG3 convenor before January 10 2005 for FCD ballot.
WG3 further instructs the Editors of Part 2 to include an annex that makes the disclosures required by the current draft of Part 5.
2. ISO 13250-3: Topic Maps -- XML Syntax
WG3 instructs the Editors of Part 3 to incorporate the decisions taken at the Washington meeting into a new draft and forward it to the WG3 convenor before January 10 2005 for FCD ballot.
3. ISO 13250-4: Topic Maps -- Canonical XML Syntax
WG3 instructs the Editor of Part 4 to align the draft of 2004-11-01 with the candidate FCDs for Parts 2 and 3, and forward it to the WG3 convenor before January 10 2005 for FCD ballot.
In addition, WG3 calls for implementations of the Canonical Syntax in order to test the specification. The goal should be to have at least two such implementations available in time for the next meeting.
4. ISO 13250-5: Topic Maps -- Reference Model
WG3 requests Robert Barta to contribute an updated version of the mathematical model first presented at the August 2004 Reference Model Workshop under the name 'tau model'.
WG3 instructs the Editors of Part 5 to produce a new draft that incorporates the decisions taken at the Washington meeting and the mathematical model into a single document and forward it to the WG3 convenor before February 10 2005 for CD ballot.
5. ISO 18048 Topic Maps -- Query Language
WG3 accepts SC34 N0580 as the Editors' Notes from the meeting and instructs the Editors of TMQL to produce a complete draft that incorporates the feedback from the Washington meeting and forward it to the WG3 convenor before February 10 2005 for CD ballot.
6. ISO 19756 Topic Maps -- Constraint Language
WG3 instructs the Editors of TMCL to produce a complete draft that incorporates the feedback from the Washington meeting and forward it to the WG3 convenor before February 10 2005 for CD ballot.
7. Semantic Web Best Practices and Deployment Working Group
WG3 expresses its support for the W3C's initiative in setting up a task force to address the issue of RDF/Topic Maps interoperability and encourages the active participation of members of the Topic Maps community. WG3 further suggests that SC34 instruct its chairman to propose the establishment of a joint committee between JTC1 and the W3C.
8. Next WG3 meeting
The next WG3 meeting will be held on May 20-22 2005 in Amsterdam,
Netherlands, in conjunction with IDEAlliance's
XTech 2005 conference.
The following issues are expected to be the main topics of discussion: TMQL,
