In advance of the upcoming plenary session, the SC34 Chairman puts forth the following Resolution on behalf of the WG2 Convenor to satisfy the need to introduce a new part to an existing standard, as provided for in JTC 1 Directives Section 6.2.2.1. P-members are asked to submit any objections to this resolution in the two-week period ending 2006-03-06, or if in support of this resolution, to submit the names of any interested participants from their national body.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the JTC 1/SC 34 Programme of Work be updated to include a subdivision of the existing ISO/IEC 9541 to introduce Part 4, titled "ISO/IEC 9541-4 Information Technology - Font Information Interchange - Open Font Format", developed as a dual-numbered document in conjunction with ISO/IEC 14496-22 being prepared by JTC 1/SC 29/ WG 11. The scope of this dual-numbered project will be the standardization of OpenType(R) format version 1.4 font format specification as a ISO/IEC standard.
