Jtc1 SWG Directives in Zürich 2006-03-08/10 14 participants, ITTF, CA, JP, JTC1, US, CH, SC22, SC34, SC35, GB, FR, ECMA This is now a permanent SWG, not an ad hoc group. I apologized for Yves Neuville not coming. I asked that the issue on copyrights and patents be on the agenda of the next meetings. The SWG will invite SC's to contribute to the work. Maybe SC34 can propose to add ODF as one of the allowable formats for documents in ISO. JTC 1 makes standards in about 2,5 years, while ISO in general take over 3 years to make a standard. It was clear that *any* discussion in SC's on issues under ballot is prohibited. Some talk on changing TR type 1 and 2 to "Technical Specifications". This be balloted only on SC level. Question on FCD stage. The chair suggested that we change FCD to DIS. Many NBs don't do public comments on FCD, which was the intentention. Some problems with ITTF being slower than the SC secretariats. Agreement to change FCD to DIS. DIS ballots with no comments can go directly to publication. Strategic directions? on i18n? Am not sure this exists Discussion on minutes, recording things that was not decided, etc. Some concensus. Canada will write an example template. ECMA complained that there were problems with the C++/CLI fasttrack submission. Although about 50 members from ISO/WG21 have access to all ECMA documents, some of them now reports problems with the result. Terms of officers. It was mentioned that a term was normally rather 5 years than 3 years. A remark on the long time charmanship in SC34 was mentioned. I think the max term for an SC chairman is two terms, that is 6 years. How is things progressing with the register of patent claims on ISO JTC 1 standards?
