Proposal to change the scope of ISO/IEC 9541-4/Amd.1
In 2009, the project ISO/IEC 9541-4/Amd.1 was started to define the media type for TrueType and OpenType. At that time, SC34/WG4 had the urgent request to register the standard media type to exclude "application/x-" media types from OOXML, so "application/vnd." vendor specific tree was recognized to be appropriate. But SC34/WG2 decided to try to propose the top-level media type "font/", and ISO/IEC 9541-4/Amd.1 was reserved for it. Afterwards, SC29/WG11 font ad-hoc group started to draft the proposal to "font/" (based on old proposal by Apple). Their activity includes the registration of the media type for TrueType and OpenType, too. It is confusing to proceed two activities for the media type registration, so it is better to change the scope of 9541-4/Amd.1 for other urgent issues. Considering that SC34/WG2 has other 3 ongoing projects (the second edition of 9541-1, 2, 3), it is also reasonable to cancell this project.END
