Asset Publisher HR OfficerPosting date: 2011-12-15 The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is a federal Crown corporation with the mandate to promote efficient and effective standardization in Canada. Located in Ottawa, SCC has a governing Council comprised of up to 15 members and a staff of approximately 85. The organization reports to Parliament through the Minister of Industry and oversees Canada's national standardization network. SCC carries out a variety of functions intended to ensure the effective and coordinated operation of standardization in Canada. It also represents Canada's interests on standards-related matters in foreign and international forums. Summary of dutiesReporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Officer primarily administers the recruitment and selection activities of the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible to perform full life cycle recruiting as well as participating in various projects within SCC’s human resources group. The Human Resources Officer coordinates and participates in the recruitment and staffing processes including: assisting in the creation of job descriptions, posting job opportunities to SCC’s Web-site, the media and select electronic job boards; screening of resumes, coordinating the scheduling of interviews, conducting interviews, and checking references. The incumbent will also support the planning and administration of HR program activities required to meet individual and corporate needs identified through the annual performance review process.
