Inspection Bodies
Inspection body accreditation is the process of assessing and publicly recognizing the integrity, reliability and technical competence of an organization's inspection services.
Examples of inspection services are varied and can cover diverse subjects such as the installation of specialty electrical equipment, gas-piping systems as well as home inspections.
The role of inspection bodies involves assessing the safety and fitness for use of specific products and materials and, confirming that the associated facilities, equipment and systems are appropriate to the work being performed. However inspections are certainly not limited to physical assets and may also include an assessment of services.
The accreditation of an organization's inspection services by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is a means of demonstrating that those services (that fall within the scope of their formal accreditation) conform to an accepted set of requirements.
