Summary of major points: |
The ISO/IEC JTC1/SC34 Meeting will be held at the following venue: Note: This meeting begins the day after one of the busiest travel weekends in the U.S. The opening plenary is accordingly delayed until Monday afternoon to allow for late arrivals on Monday morning. This meeting will be the week before the GCA conferences, "XML '99" (http://www.gca.org/conf/xml99/xm99ndex.htm) and "Markup Technologies" (http://www.gca.org/conf/mt99/mtndex.htm), which will be held at the nearby Pennsylvania Convention Center. Hotel and travel information is enclosed. Please make hotel reservations as soon as possible. SC34 National Bodies and Liaison Organizations are instructed to provide the SC34 Secretariat with the names of all delegates attending the plenary by 27 October 1999. In accordance with the eight-weeks rule, all National Body and Liaison Organization contributions to the Plenary must be received by the SC34 Secretariat no later than 1 October 1999. Please note that the SC 34 Secretariat will require any National Body or Liaison Organization that submits contributions after this date to bring sufficient copies to the meeting site. Also, please note that all additions to the agenda should be requested prior to the meetings in order to ensure that all documentation can be provided to the delegates upon their arrival at the meetings. |

Holiday Inn Express Midtown The hotel includes: outdoor pool, iron/iron board, valet service, hair dryers, modem ready phones, and a complimentary breakfast bar. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the convention center and the Marriott Hotel. Group rate: $110 single or double (plus tax). To receive this group rate you must contact the hotel directly and identify yourself as an "GCA/XML'99" attendee. Reservations must be made by November 9, 1999. Reservation made after this date will be based only on space availability. The hotel is just south of the John Wanamaker (Lord & Taylor) Store (http://www.tneorg.com/wanamaker/) and two and a half blocks south of the Pennsylvania Convention Center, site of the GCA conferences. City Hall is a block and a half northwest, and the Independence National Historical Park (http://www.nps.gov/inde/) is about eight blocks east.

The airport is approximately six miles from the hotel and taxis are available in Zone 5 of Philadelphia International Airport. The cost is approximately $20.00. Also, shuttle vans and limousines are available in Zone 7. Information is available at the Ground Transportation Counters in each baggage claim area.
